What You Need To Stay Consistent
The easiest thing in the world to do, is to just be consistent.
The hardest thing in the world to do, is to just be consistent.
For any who have tried (and sadly, failed) to stick to a resolution for your heath, you’ve seen this movie before. You had a plan, resolved to stick with it, but life sloshed into your way, motivation waned, your efforts lapsed, and it turned into Groundhog Day all over again.
The real question is how to avoid this re-run in your life and just be consistent over time?
Share The Load
One of the most important things you can do is to get accountability off your own back. If you can share the load with someone else, it will make it so much easier for you all!
That’s because if it all falls on your shoulders along to stick with it day in and day out, it’s just too easy for normal humans to rationalize their way out of hanging in there.
- I’m just a little tired this morning …
- I’ll just skip this one today …
- I’ll definitely pick it back up tomorrow …
This is so common that you should actually expect it to happen. You shouldn’t wonder IF your brain will try to rationalize its way out of sticking to your activity plan, but HOW OFTEN.
That’s why this one rule is so important: get a buddy to mutual accountability partners for each other. Before starting, make a pact together knowing very well that there will be days where it’s YOU who needs a nudge. But then other days THEY will be the one who gets supported by your encouragement!
So Find Your Buddy
Set it up so you do your movement activity together in some way. Of course, you don’t technically have to be physically present with them, but man it is so much easier if they are.
It is better with more than one buddy with you as well. So if you have a group who can commit to committing to their commitment together, those are your accountability buddies, and they will be the biggest support you’ve ever had toward keeping to your goals through this March, April, and May.
