Best Hummus Ever
There is seriously a problem with this hummus. Once you make it and taste what full-on amazing hummus tastes like, you’ll be ruined for every other grocery store version!
The other thing to note about this recipe is to 100% “play with your food”. The amount of lemon, or tahini, or spice … is totally custom to your palate.
So taste as you go and be bold with your flavor selection!
You’ll Need:
- 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- ⅓ cup smooth tahini*
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, more to taste
- 1 garlic clove
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- 3+ tablespoons water
- Spicing of your choice, which could include paprika, cayenne, cumin, or other to your taste!
What To Do
In a high-speed blender, place the chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and salt. Blend until very smooth, and taste for a couple of things:
- Salt
- Lemonyness (I typically add a bit more here for the flavor, but also because it thins out the texture as well)
- Nuttiness from the tahini
- Spicing (my favorite is cumin, to get a classic middle eastern flavor in there)
- Texture (thin it down with a few tablespoons of water until the texture is where you want it)
Once you have a bead on what flavors it needs, make those corrections.
Transfer to a large bowl, and enjoy!
