New Health Law Requires Calorie Counts Posted

Is this good policy, or just intrusive?
The government inspects your meat to make sure meat from those “downer” cow beef doesn’t get into your kids. The government also makes food products put their ingredients on the labels.
These two ideas are pretty universally accepted.
And now the new healthcare bill will require posting the calorie content of that Big Mac or Caramel Macchiato. The idea is that, when you see the calorie bolus in front of you, some subset of people will think twice. It will also put some pressure on restaurants to provide lower calorie choices.
Even the food industry supports the new law, but some groups are saying that the government has no business telling us what’s in our food.
