Find The Good To Find Your Peace.
We are what we repeatedly do.
Exercise your muscles and you get stronger muscles. Exercise your cardio and you get longer workouts. Exercise your ability to see good in the world, and you become better at that as well.
But why would you do that? What’s in it for you? When your brain looks for the good, identifies it and processes that, it can help tilt the balance of neurohormones sloshing about in your head. And that lean will be in a more positive direction.
In the dead of winter, some degree of SAD can creep in — whether a little or a lot, intermittent or chronic. Although we cannot do anything about the weather other than to just wait it out, we can do something to help shield our hearts and heads from its effects.
That’s the good news. The GREAT news is that the more you do it — like any exercise at all — the better you are at it. The more natural it becomes for you, and the easier it will be to carry this emotional shield with you all winter long.
