Just Asking … what would make it easier?
What if you had a sore on your leg, but were not comfortable letting anyone know? That sore would get worse, fester, and (in this imaginary scenario) you could eventually lose your leg. That would be tragic given that there are solutions that could have managed the issue before it became an even bigger issue!
Mental wellness is the same. People who struggle with anxiety, depression, and other emotional health concerns may have ready solutions within their workplace wellness programs. But this study for example, shows that employee fear of stigma is a big reason they don’t engage. And their fear isn’t misplaced, because stigma does happen even when it is completely unintended.
So my question for you is this, what would actually make it easier for a person to feel comfortable enough to use the available services to manage a mental and emotional health issue early before it becomes a bigger problem?
